Warli Chitrakala

Today is Wordless wednesday for me .Our Tribal art works have spoken a thousand stories about their life , allowed us to have a peek into the life which is otherwise far from the reach of modern populace.Art, in any medium is truly a great form of speech without words!!
India has a rich tradition of folk arts. Many of these have their roots in the tibals of the interior states of India.WARLI is one such beautiful folk art of Maharashtra which are traditionally created by the tribal women.
The Warli art form is similar to pre historic cave paintings depicting everyday social life. This form of painting is very ascetic and are mainly painted white on mud walls with occasional use of red and yellow dots.
Not known to the common populace till the late 70's ,this form of art was popularised by Mr.Jivya Soma Mhase(A padmashree recipient). He also gave the name..'.Warli Art".
